This by far is the more traditional collar. It is important for a dogslave
chain locked around his neck by his Owner, this one looks permanent,
Master has the key, it not only cries out 'slave', but with the dog disk
adds another slant - animal. Ownership is an essential part of the dogs
psyche, the sense of belonging, the self-identification of what you are,
Dog to the core.
It is important have his doggy chain lock (by his Owner) around his neck.
This is one reason why it is one of the logos of the DogHouse, Ownership
is an essential part of the dogs psyche, the sense of belonging, the self-identification
of what you are. The dog tag is important as it separates him from the traditional
slave, yes he is property, but more than that his is basically animal -
and treated like one.
Consumer Advice
^
A choke chain should only be used as a training aid or control check
whilst you are walking or training your dog. When selecting a choke chain
consider your dog size, weight and activeness ensuring the correct
size and strength used.
Choosing the right Collar Size
^
Ensure that it is not too tight, tight enough so that it cannot come
off, loose enough so that it clanks (the padlock and doggy disk) against
his dog bowl when he feels. As a guide the correct tightness of the
chain is when the Master can get his fist around the chain when he pulls
on it (don't yank it) it would leave a gap of about an inch from Masters
knuckles and the dogs neck. When this is locked on the padlock is then just
below the hollow of the neck. For example for a neck of 16inches (41cm)
a chain would typically be about 18.5 inches (47cm) and the lock link
just adding a extra centimetre or two.
Your slave might have a big Adam's Apple which might means his chain has
to ride over this easy, so take this as his widest point.
Also note that Brass does not rust, but with the acids in the skin it
can produce a green/blue residue ("vert de gris") this is Copper Sulphate
and comes with any material based on copper. Just clean it regularly. In
time your natural body oils will produce a natural barrier on the padlock,
it will then become a yellow/brown colour. Alternative locks are in laminate
steel and look less good, but it is a choice you make.
Getting your Collar
^
You can get started with a visit to a hardware store and a pet shop.
Its worthwhile going for one that has some weight to it as it is more likely
to have a higher quality of metal under the Chrome plate. Some stores
have tags that they can inscribe your details on the tag whilst you wait.
A Doghouse Collar ^
Due to the level of demand, the doghouse now provide The Doghouse dog
chain collars.
In general the chain is 4 inches longer that the shirt collar size of the
slave - thing ensures that it hangs right and you can get your hand in there
and control him good.
The dog tag can be engraved with his name on the front and a 'property of
Master xxx' on the back (done with a laser so fonts can vary for the text).
The Master Locks have the one unique key, but then the collar is ok to remove
with a decent pair of Bolt Cutters if you loose the key. This helps
with the decision of who own the collar, is it the Masters or the slaves
- there is but one key.
- UK shipping they are priced at £15 (UKP) for the basic version,
if you want a tag that is laser engraved with the pups name on the front
with who he belongs to on the back then that is £25 for the UK.

- European or International shipping add an additional £5,
- If you want UPS Air or any other specialisation then please contact
