Woof Camp 2009, the annual pup party held at International Mr. Leather (IMRL) in Chicago , IL ,

Woof Camp 2009, the annual pup party held at International Mr. Leather (IMRL) in Chicago , IL , is almost here! Representing the pup community, one of the fastest growing fetish communities at IMRL, this event promises to be one of the biggest parties of IMRL yet again. This year’s theme is “Race Ya!” and features a brand new event: dog races with another new addition being offered: pet portraits!
Pups/dogs are encouraged to bring along their own water bowls, chew or squeaky toys, owners, and friends for a howling good time!

We are proud to have SquarePegToys, (the original silicone puppy tail maker), once again be the sole sponsor for the event which is produced by The San Francisco K-9 Unit. DJ Sam Storicks will again be providing the music.

Venue

The pup party will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009.

At the Hilton Chicago Hotel in the Waldorf Room located on the 3rd Floor.

Look for the Woof Camp and San Francisco K9 Unit banners outside the ballroom along with the event poster. The pup party will feature two sessions, A and B:

Session A

8:00pm – 10:00pm: Pups/Dogs, Handlers/Trainers Only

Private: This session is just for pups/dogs [owned and strays] and Handlers/Trainers to use for training or to play with other pups/dogs. During this time there will be multiple stations for vet exams and grooming; an
Active Area
for romping around with other pups and a
Quiet Area
for new pups, for pups intimated by the larger, more aggressive pup play area or for those who just want to rest or nuzzle with each other or their Handler/Trainer. This session also features the popular puppy piñatas and a brand new addition, pet portraits for those who attend.

This session is also where our brand new event, the dog races, will be held where pups will have the chance to prove their mettle. Can you catch that rascally rabbit?

Access to Session A will be restricted by volunteers at the door, who will be asking what you are there for. Tell the person at the door exactly what you are there for. This year we are incorporating a secret code word to help with security at the door, which is “snausages”. Be prepared, as all pups/dogs in Session A are expected to be active participants and in pupspace (such as being on all fours throughout the session). People who sneak past the dog-sniffers at the door and try to crash the party as non-participants (on either end of the leash), will be asked by the volunteer staff to leave and return during the public session later in the night.

Session B

10:00pm – Midnight: Open To The General Public

Public: Open to the general public.

Music, romping and frolicking. There will be a large Active Area for those who want to romp around and have fun and a smaller Quiet Area for those who want to have a more subdued space. Photography and videography is allowed during this session, official Woof Camp photographer Rich Stadtmiller will be taking pictures to be posted on the Woof Camp and Rich Trove websites.

Please remember that Woof Camp is designed as a male energy event. We would ask both pups/dogs and Handlers/Trainers of both sexes to respect the others' preferences and signals (a growl or head turned to the side/looking away is usually a good sign to ease off or not interested).

Woof Camp 2009 Needs You!

We are looking for volunteers to help out at the Woof Camp 2009 pup party at IMRL. What we need is security for designated areas, experienced Handlers, ringers [people to be in pup space already at the assorted stations and designated areas to help encourage others to participate], set-up and tear-down. This is a great way to connect with others really into the pup scene. If you are looking for mentors, play partners, dogs/pups or Handlers; if you are looking to give back; if you are looking to have fun, then join the pack! We are looking for people who can give 60-90 minutes of their time. If you want to volunteer, please contact us at: woofcamp@speakeasy.net.
