Hoods are great things, one of those essentials for any SM player. It has many uses so the slave cannot see what is coming to him, or is opened it allows him to be less shy. For Masters, it can offer an Anonymity with is common for the Hooded Executioner, for the prisoner there is the hooding before the execution, like when a prisoner is hooded in the electric chair, so the witnesses do not see his face cook, or when the man is hung.

Precautions:

With hoods of course you need to be aware that there are no contact lenses to cause problems, that there is no restriction to the air way, and if there is, evaluate the safety - would the slave be able to control his breathing to accommodated this restriction. If it is part of a breath control scene are you monitoring things well.

Remember that if he panics we will need more air quickly, and you need to be able to respond.
Likewise, if he has a gag under the hood (very horny) if there is a problem how quick can you get the hood off? What if you locked it on, where's the key, what if the hood laces form into a knot, can you reach the rope cutter in time ?
Do not forget that with some gags that the can cause a build up of phlegm/spit at the back of the throat. If the gag stops you swallowing that there is a risk of choking.
With many Gags you can can breath with them in place - the more advanced ones are intended to seal your mouth.
If that is the case if you take too much Amyl/Poppers, or if you have a cold, or if there is pressure part of your nose, it might block up - then how will you breath ?

Anonymity ^

This is a good general hood.
It allows you to allow good access to your slaves mouth to breath or for your use, and likewise he can see easily.

It is also a good choice for a new puppy that is not used to being shown or used in public. He can do more things without people knowing who he is (unless he is tattooed already).

I find this a good for also for when you are using a slave in a long term scene or during sensory depravation when in a sleep sack, as he can haves he sense wiped away.

Basically he could be anyone (unless he had well know tattoos) and he as the security of his Master is in control and protecting him. More over he is doing these things because Master made him - so he has even more permission to be a public slave.

This was the first time that I tried a straight jacket and a hood the slave that did this to me (at that time I felt owned by a guy on IRC called "Whip" from San Diego.
