This is code for a ‘carer’. The nature of a dog is it unconditional love to its Master. Like no matter how much you abuse it, it still comes crawling back to the feet of his Master.

Why? Because its worst being a stray and being cast out of the pack – that is the simple explanation for now.

So for a ‘Therapy dog’ it is in its nature to make the other guy feel loved, comfort and companionship.

It is not uncommon for people to be down sometimes. In the western world over 25% of the population are on anti-depressants.

Such a dog just rests his head in your lap and he lifts you out of the blues. Typically it is a playful distraction from a simple creature that moves your focus from your current situation.

The dogs bring sparkle to a sterile day, provide a lively subject for conversation, and rekindle old memories of previously owned pets.

Therapy dogs come in all shapes and sizes; real dogs with real personalities and real love to share. Some have pedigrees that stretch to next week, some have been adopted from the local shelter. All are very proud to wear their dog collar & tag.

The first time a dog prances into a care facility; most people do a double take. A split second later broad smiles stretch across faces. Regardless of how residents look or how they feel, the animals are happy to see them.

Often deprived of acceptance and love, those who live or must stay in a care facility immediately respond to tail-wagging greetings and warm paws.

Four-footed therapists give something medical science can’t do, without the use of drugs.
It has been clinically proven that through petting, touching and talking with the animals, patients’ blood pressure is lowered, stress is relieved and depression is eased.

So Master have to put up with all this – so who would want to be a pup when you could be a Master!
