Boot filth
This is the more thorough approach to boot cleaning. A leather slave just wants to lick the leather and the 'best bits' where as a dog or pig boy will do a good job all over especially good at the sole of the boot. You want to give some consideration of where you have been as in a bar I don't want my dog licking off bits of bottle glass with his tongue -  he would obey. Street dirt is often ok, field dirt is to. You can choose what sort of dirt to have on there from mud to  toilet filth. A dog in good health can cope. You might want to step into his dog dish and feed him with his licking it off ready for the next mouth full.

This is not the same as just being forced licking this nice bits. This would tend to me the initial phase of a slaves submission. Once he has mastered this to his Masters satisfaction, he would be required to clean ALL of the boot, till ultimately he cleans it whatever the condition. The slave all the time would know the piece of failure and event though is Owner may be the most merciful of Masters, punishment would inevitably follow.

With diligent training you can teach your slave to show his love and respect for his Master through how he uses his mouth on your boots. When you feel him massaging your feet through the leather, the careful attention to detail as he works the entire boot. All you that he craves in return is a little of your attention, the shortest "good boy" or stroking his butt with your hand or the crop should provide adequate motivation. It is deep within his heart to please his Master, that is his number one goal, you only need to train him so that he has all that is needed to do the best within his ability to please you.
Hygiene:
You may have to consider what the Master has walked in. If you have a weak constitution, then you should hope that the Master would take account of that.

Some animals such as cats can pass on infections that can cause blindness in your dogboy. A dogs saliva is normally sterile in a healthy dog so bio dogs and dogboys if healthy can co-exist with no problems.
It is easy to say 'if healthy' as the animal would not have a label to say safe - but in general I would have less concerns about dogs even though cats are licking themselves all the time.
